birth of my personal creative movement
In the summer of 2008, I was in the middle of illustrating a children’s e-book. During the process of creating digitally drawn images. I was inspired to create art full time. I had gone through a very dry season creatively. And this new found process of creating, re-kindled a creative fire of inspiration.
With the help of a couple illustration type programs. I was able to create a large body of images in a short period of time. This factor of change opened a new vein for my work. I was now a “digital cartoonist“. I would draw by day in my office at work, while on the phone. Then tweak and color my daily creations by night on my computer. 95% of my work in “P.O.O.P.” is doodles drawn on scrap paper, post-it notes, business cards and recycled paper laying around my office.
I never set out to be a eco-friendly digital cartoonist. But I couldn’t help notice how many beautiful blank scraps of paper would be thrown away. I am proud to join the ranks of the eco-friendly digital cartoonist nation. Lol!!. My doodle sketches at work probably should have resulted in me getting fired…..but it didn’t. It got me requests for original pieces.
Which I still don’t have this resolved. The only way a person can get a copy of my work. Is for me to give them a digital print. Most people have been happy with the prints. However, there are a few art collectors that really want originals. So for now we will release books and a very limited collection of original work. With the encouragement of a few friends. I humbly offer the first collection of my work. “Power Of Outrageous Perspective” (A.K.A. P.O.O.P.) represents over four years worth of work.
From my office by day and computer by night. I continue to say yes to the artist with in. I am eternally grateful to God for allowing me to create art for the last 24 years….my wife Erika for putting up with me……and the long hours that it takes to create. I also want to thank all of the friends and family who have been such a blessing to me, more ways then I can list. I love you all....may God richly bless you.
